This fee is only $30 per vehicle per year. You can pay online using a credit/debit card or eCheck.
Processing times: Allow 7 business days for eCheck payments to process before downloading your certificate. Once the hold is placed, it can take 3-5 business days from downloading your certificate for DMV to update their system. Plan ahead to avoid any last-minute issues.
Browser recommendation: Use Microsoft Edge for payments to avoid potential errors.
We recommend getting your test early so you can fix any problems and still have time to take a re-test. Don't wait until the last minute!
Just like smog checks for cars, California's Clean Truck Check program aims to keep our air clean, extending to motorhomes as well. Here's what you need to know:
Eligibility: This program applies to non-gasoline motorhomes over 14,000 pounds that operate on California roads.
Out-of-State Motorhomes: If your motorhome is registered outside of California, you are not subject to the Clean Truck Check requirements.
Report Your Motorhome:
Deadline: Starting January 31, 2024, you must report your motorhome online at CTC-VIS.
Pay Your Annual Compliance Fee:
Payment Details: The fee will be shown in CTC-VIS and must be paid within the deadline using a debit/credit card or eCheck. Paper checks are not accepted.
Tip: Use Microsoft Edge for a smoother payment experience.
Get an Emissions Test (Starting January 1, 2025):
Testing Period: Beginning in 2025, California-registered motorhomes need an annual emissions test. You can complete this test up to 90 days before your deadline to allow time for any necessary repairs.
Find a Tester: Locate a certified Clean Truck Check tester near you to ensure compliance.
To prevent the California DMV from placing a hold on your motorhome registration, ensure you have:
✓ Registered your motorhome on CTC-VIS
✓ Paid your annual compliance fee
✓Completed your emissions test starting in 2025
Staying compliant with the Clean Truck Check program ensures uninterrupted travel for you.
